The Himalayan region also has to contend with geopolitical issues. Its strategic location straddling the border of multiple, now-friendly, now-warring nations, leaves it frequently disturbed and in the eye of the storm as it were. It is the recipient of attention for primarily reasons of conflict, extraction of resources, establishment of military might, etc., and inadequately for development of the region and its inhabitants.
