Himalayan VOICES High Himalaya FORUM Himalayan Heritage

“I am happy with the development that has taken place. Earlier, we had to manage with what we had, but now, due to improvement in the transport system, we can get ration from outside. A few of the major changes that I have noticed are that there has been a marked improvement in the water, electricity and transport facilities. However, deforestation has occurred and the temperature is rising.

A lot of people are unemployed and do almost nothing during the day. The number of jobs and the variety of jobs should increase. Modern technology has had a positive impact on us. It has made our lives easier in many ways. We get to know about other parts of the world through televisions, which was not possible earlier.
There has been a change in the way people dress. Our traditional dress is not that common anymore, and is not worn on a regular basis. Also, mobiles and televisions have influenced us a lot.”
